Newry City sign attacking duo Lavery and Rushe ahead of Premiership bow

Newry City manager Darren Mullen continues his off-season preparations ahead of their first Premiership season with the signing of Stefan Lavery and Tiernán Rushe.

Last season’s Championship top goalscorer Mark McCabe has also re-signed for the club as pre-season draws closer and strengthened with attacking duo Lavery and Rushe.

“They are both skilful attacking players with pace and are exactly what we will need for the coming season,” Mullen told the club website.

“Stefan already has Premiership experience with Dungannon and I’ve no doubt he will fit in with our style of play.

“Tiarnán is a player with great potential and has shown a willingness to commit to soccer this season.”

Lavery has plenty of experience in the Premiership and signs from Dungannon Swifts whom he has been with since the age of 15.

“I was absolutely delighted when Darren approached me to talk about signing for the club,” Lavery told the club website.

“The whole story about Newry with the four promotions in five years definitely attracted me to the club.

“The work Darren and everyone at the Showgrounds have done is exceptional. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
