Watch: Finn Harps 2-4 Longford Town - Highlights

It was an unhappy bank holiday Monday for Finn Harps as they lost 4-2 at home to Longford Town.

In a near carbon copy of the Premier Division tie between Cork City and Derry City earlier in the day, Town raced into a two-goal lead before being hauled back, then scoring twice more.

Promising local boy Aodh Dervin opened the scoring in the seventh minute as he stretched to meet Sam Verdon's knock-down and volleyed past Harps keeper Ciaran Gallagher.

The visitors doubled their lead with a length-of-the-field counter attack that saw Dean Byrne slip in Dylan McGlade, who squeezed the ball under Gallagher's dive.

Harps emerged for the second half a different team, and Paddy McCourt pulled one back from the spot after Mick McDonnell had taken down Jesse Devers in the area.

And Mikey Place levelled five minutes later as Devers dodged a couple of challenges and played in the Galway native to slot past goalkeeper Michael Kelly.

Town regained the lead when Dean Kelly did well to turn an overhit corner back into the centre and Verdon headed home.

And McGlade made sure of the win ten minutes from time with a well-taken solo effort with Finn Harps ending the game with ten men after Tommy McBride was dismissed.
