WNL Preview: Shelbourne Ladies -v- Kilkenny United

SHELBOURNE

Shelbourne will look to bounce back from the disappointment of their Women's National League Cup elimination as they host Kilkenny United in the league (kick-off 4pm).

The Reds are top of the league after winning four consecutive games but fell to a second defeat of the season to Peamount United last Saturday.

Noelle Murray fired Shels into an early lead from the spot but Áine O'Gorman equalised deep into injury time before Eleanor Ryan-Doyle won it in extra time.

Danny Crowley's side have been in a rich vein of league form, scoring 18 goals and conceding just twice since the opening day reverse to the Peas.

Top scorer Leanne Kiernan has scored hat-tricks in handsome wins over UCD Waves and Limerick and will expect to further her tally against the league's bottom side.

Roma McLaughlin and Tiagen Ruddy are long-term injury concerns for the Reds.

KILKENNY UNITED

Kilkenny sit bottom of the league after five games without a point to their name and a negative goal difference of 20.

Last time out, Kilkenny crashed out of the league cup with a 9-0 defeat at home to Galway, with Lynsey McKee, Sadbh Doyle and Sinead Donovan all shooting doubles.

Kilkenny's league form has been little better, though a narrow 2-1 defeat to Galway in the league offered some crumbs for comfort.
