Shelbourne appoint Dave Henderson as new Head of Recruitment

Shelbourne announced on Tuesday that former Aston Villa academy scout Dave Henderson would be taking up the role of Head of Recruitment at the club.

The former scout also has past experience working with Hibernian and is widely regarded as one of the most trusted and recognised talent identifiers in Ireland, with his previous track record and knowledge of League of Ireland football at a premium.

Henderson is a former League of Ireland representative himself and he had spells with Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians and St Patricks Athletic spanning over a 21 year old career.

The news was broke on Shels official website on Tuesday afternoon and the club had this to say regarding the new appointment.

”Dave’s vast experience and depth of knowledge of the League of Ireland and talent acquisition will make him a valuable addition to the scouting networks at all levels of the club. His appointment is a key one for the club in our ambition to develop the club at all levels.”

This comes in the wake of another new appointment at board level in Tolka Park after David O’Connor was unveiled as the clubs new chief executive officer.

The Reds now have new investment in the shape of former Shamrock Rovers director Andrew Doyle as they eye a return to the top flight.

These significant changes at the club are in conjunction with the club being debt free and are being geared towards a return to the Premier Division within the next couple of seasons.
