Eir Sport announce 3 games set for live coverage

Eir Sport have announced their first set of televised games during the forthcoming Airtricty League. It see’s several heavyweight contests with last season’s top three all featuring heavily.

Formerly known as Setanta Sports, Eir begun transmitting live games a number of years back and is already impressing many with their coverage of the domestic league.

There was good news for Bohs fans as it was unveiled that they will feature in two successive weeks on the channel, playing Shamrock Rovers on the 13th before they take on Dundalk on April 20th. They will be hoping that Friday the 13th is not unlucky for them as they play their bitter cross-town rivals. Having lost the opening two fixtures of last season, they came out on top in a cracking game at Tallaght. Bohs also inflicted Cork City’s first defeat of the season last year and delayed them from winning the league at Dalymount.

The one most people will take notice of is the Oriel Park clash between Dundalk and Cork City. The two sides who have dominated Irish football over the past three seasons will compete yet again for bragging rights and the chance to inflict damage on the other’s hopes. Last year, a Sean Maguire hat-trick went a long way to deciding the destination of the trophy. Yesterday’s 4-2 victory in the President’s Cup showed them in powerful form.  The home side will therefore be gunning for revenge in this much anticipated encounter.

Due to the live broadcasts, the fixtures will be kicking off at 20:00, instead of 19:45.

Extratime.ie will once again partner with Eir Sport this year and more on that will be announced shortly.
