Crusaders sign striker Darren Murray from Warrenpoint Town

Crusaders have announced the signing of Darren Murray from Warrenpoint Town on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

 

The 26-year-old signs for the Crues having scored ten goals in just 18 appearances this season for Warrenpoint.

 

Murray's signing bolsters Crusaders' goalscoring ranks as they aim to clinch their seventh Irish League Title. The club currently lie in first place heading into the final third of the season.

 

"I am very pleased to have joined Crusaders and I am looking forward to getting involved and meeting my team mates at training on Thursday night,” Murray told the club's website.

 

“It has been a long month and I thought the deal wasn't going to happen but suddenly it has and I am here.

 



“I hope I can repay the faith Stephen Baxter has put in me and I cannot wait to show the supporters why Crusaders have bought me.

 

“I am delighted with the move and would, like to put on record a word of thanks to Warrenpoint Town for the chance to further my career and I wish them all the best for the future.”

 

Chairman Stephen Bell added: “When there is a possibility of signing a player and a goal scorer for Darren Murray's stature and ability you have to be interested.

 



“His record speaks for itself and I am confident he will enjoy his football at Crusaders as we enter a crucial part of the season.

The Belfast native began his career with Newry City before having spells with Donegal Celtic, Portadown, Cliftonville and Crumlin Star.
