Dundalk sign former Liverpool midfielder Krisztian Adjoran on loan

Dundalk have signed Hungarian midfielder Krisztián Adorján on a six-month loan deal with the view to a permanent switch in summer, subject to international clearance.

Adorján, who was last year called up twice to the Hungarian senior international squad, has signed on loan from Italian Serie B outfit Novara Calcio, having spent the first half of the 2017/18 season in Albanian football with Partizani Tirana on a similar arrangement.

The 25-year-old wore the number eleven shirt as he came on as a second half substitute in Dundalk’s 1-1 draw with Shanghai Shenxin in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday afternoon in Spain before Novara confirmed that the deal was done on Thursday.

An attacking midfielder, who has also been known to play on the left flank, Adorján began his professional career at Liverpool where he was highly regarded, but two friendly appearances following a successful loan spell in the Eredivisie with Groningen in 2013/14 was the closest he ever came to first-team affairs at Anfield.

He then moved to Italy on a permanent basis with Novara, where the end of his current contract happens to coincide with the culmination of his loan deal with Dundalk.

Adorján has become the sixth close season signing for Dundalk, who conclude their pre-season trip to Murcia with a friendly against FC Seoul on Friday before welcoming a Brentford XI to Oriel Park for their final friendly match next Wednesday.
