Finn Harps sign former Portsmouth and Newcastle United defender Toland

Finn Harps have announced the signing of former Portsmouth and Newcastle United player Lee Toland to their squad ahead of the 2018 First Division campaign.

Toland signs for Ollie Horgan’s men from Ulster Senior League side Letterkenny Rovers, having had a previous spell with Harps in 2013 when he made nine appearances for the club.

The defender then moved on to play under Roddy Collins at Derry City in 2014 but left without making an appearance.

The Northern Ireland under-19 international is Ollie Horgan’s 15th signing of the off season as he looks for the club to bounce back from their relegation last season.

“Lee is another player who knows plenty about the senior soccer scene and that’s important for us,” Horgan told the club's official website.

“We need that type of player for the competition we will be up against in the First Division. He’s a left sided player and that will give us some balance in that area for the new season.”

The 24-year-old had been given a chance to impress his new manager when he featured in a friendly fixture against Bohemians last week.
