Stephen Walsh Betting Column (July 28th 2017)

We are now after our third win this season where we have successfully raised money for charity with Suas Education Development being the benefactors last week.

This week we will now be aiming to raise money for the disability centre, Cork which gives support services to new parents and gives children additional resources in the Cork area.

Now it comes to the treble that we hope will help us get over the €3,000 mark for money raised since the beginning of April.

This week our treble will involve backing St Patrick’s Athletic to defeat Drogheda United. The Inchicore side are favourites at present but the main reason I will be backing them is that they have a stronger spine of the team something Drogheda are missing. You have the likes of Jordi Balk, Christy Fagan and Killian Brennan down the centre of the team while the same can’t be said for Drogheda. They have scored very few games in the recent games in comparison to Pat’s who have scored seven in the last two games showing both teams to be on different wavelengths when it comes to finding the net.

Secondly we will be backing Shamrock Rovers in tonight’s televised match on Eir Sport. The Tallaght side will be on a high after defeating Dundalk last weekend and in recent weeks their performances have been much better than at earlier stages of the year. Bohemians are a tough side to beat at the best of times but they will try but I don’t see them winning tonight in the Dublin derby, however it is a derby game so anything can happen.

Lastly we will be picking UCD in the final leg of the treble. The Students enter the final round of games knowing that unless they win virtually every game they are unlikely to be promoted, so have a lot more to play for tonight than a Cabinteely side who have been boosted by a number of recent signings.

Bets:

St Patrick’s Athletic 4/6

Shamrock Rovers 8/13

UCD 10/11

Bet: 4.16/1
