Wes Hoolahan enjoying life under former Dortmund II manager Farke

Republic of Ireland international Wes Hoolahan says he's enjoyed Norwich City's pre-season camp in Fota Island in Cork, his first under new manager Daniel Farke.

Hoolahan spoke to the assembled press in St Colman's Park after playing the first half of Norwich's convincing 5-0 victory over Cobh Ramblers.

The Irish international has only resumed training since last Monday as he took a three week break in the aftermath of his international exploits.

The player is looking in very good condition for a player who is only in the early stages of pre season, while he is adapting well to working with former Borussia Dortmund II manager Farke.

“It has been hard. I had three weeks off and I met up with the team on Monday and I came straight here and the last few days with the manager here has been different.

“He wants to play football and he is from a good background, passing and moving the ball well and it has been very enjoyable in the last few days learning the way he likes to play ball and the way he wants to work it.”

The 35-year-old, who has one year left on his contract, was pleased with his performance against the First Division side.

“It was a good work out and it was a good workout. Training is going well in Fota Island and is good preparation for the season.

“Obviously it is nice to get a good pre season under your belt. A lot of runs and sessions, etc.

“But straight away with the new manager in we have done a lot of a ball work and he likes us press well.”

The main goal for the year to those connected to the Canaries is promotion to the Premiership and to improve on the eighth place finish last season.

“We are hoping for promotion and hopefully finish in the top six and that is the aim. We didn’t do that last year but hopefully we can push on this year with the new manager.”
