League Preview: Athlone Town -v- Limerick

ATHLONE TOWN

Athlone Town entertain early pace setters Limerick at Lisseywollen on Saturday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Town will be hoping that the lights will not go out on them after the cancellation of their previous home game against Shelbourne and that they can build from the gritty 2-2 draw away to Drogheda United last Friday.

Manager Alan Mathews has no major injuries worries or suspensions to contend with and will aim to capitalise on the fact that Limerick gave failed to keep a clean sheet so far this season.

LIMERICK

Limerick have enjoyed a superb start to the season and conquered all before them. The Super Blues will feel confident of continuing their free scoring form at Lisseywoollen.

So far the Shannonsiders have swept aside their opponents and emphatically trounced Cobh Ramblers 4-2 in the EA Sports Cup on Tuesday and 6-1 in the league meeting between the Munster sides last Saturday evening.

Super Blues boss, Martin Russell, will be confident of his side maintaining their momentum but knows that Athlone Town are a tough proposition and they will have to continue their high level of performance to return to the Market’s Field with maximum points.

Referee: Michael Connolly
