Miller leaves Cork for Wilmington Hammerheads

Wilmington Hammerheads have announced the signing of former Cork City midfielder Liam Miller.

The Hammerheads are in the third division of American soccer – the United Soccer League – and are affiliated with Manchester City’s American franchise New York City FC.

Hammerheads manager Mark Briggs said he is delighted to have someone with Millers experience on board for the upcoming season;

“Liam is a fantastic addition to our roster and the club,” he told the club's website.

“He brings a wealth of experience from a glittering playing career. Adding a player like Liam shows the direction the club wants to head in.”

Miller added: “I am looking forward to the season starting and to success with the Hammerheads. It will be a new and exciting challenge for me personally.”

Miller spent the 2015 season in the League of Ireland with Cork City, whom he helped to a second placed finish in the Premier Division. He also played in the FAI Cup Final, which Cork lost to Dundalk 1-0.
