Bohemians add four to squad

Bohemians have added a mix of experience, creativity and youth with four new signings. Aidan Price returns to the club after his contract with St Patrick's Athletic expired.

Talking to bohemianfc.com, Owen Heary was delighted to sign Price despite offers from other clubs.

“Bringing in the likes of Aidan Price from the league champions is a big coup. He was offered more elsewhere, but we’re lucky that he was here before, loved his time at the club and was delighted to come back. He’s at the stage now where he just wants to play and it’s great to have someone on board with that level of experience.

Patrick Kavanagh joins the club after an unsuccessful spell with Derry City. Kavanagh has previously won two league titles with Bohemians biggest rivals Shamrock Rovers as well as lining out for Northside rivals Shelbourne in the past.

“Paddy Kavanagh is another player who has won a couple of league titles. He’ll offer a different dimension to us going forward and in the final third. He’s got a great end product, which is something we often lacked last season. He’s versatile too – he can play wide right or off the frontman,” Heary told bohemianfc.com

Jack Memery is another ex-Hoop and Red that joins the Gypsies for the 2014 season. The young defender played a disrupted part in Shels season with a mix of injuries and suspensions. He can play as a central defender and also as a left back, similar positions to the departed Luke Byrne.

“Jack is someone I’ve kept an eye on for a few years now. When I was in charge of our Under-19s, he always impressed for Shamrock Rovers’ Under-19s. Like when Lukey first came in, Jack is raw and needs coaching but he has great ability and will respond to the supporters when they get behind him."

The final signing comes in the form of former Football's Next Star finalist Craig Walsh who arrives after spending the 2013 under the stewardship of Martin Russell. Walsh is a central midfielder by trade but is also comfortable wide on the right of midfield.

“Craig is a player we tried to bring in before. Everyone knows him from TV programme a few years ago but he’s after having a terrific season with UCD. He’s good on the ball, can get forward and back again to defend. He’s got a great engine and is a real box-to-box player.

“He was the best player on the park when UCD came to Dalyer this year. I’m sure he’ll respond to the crowd getting behind him and he’ll offer us a lot more energy around the pitch next season.”

The new additions add to a Bohs squad that has already secured a number of last season's players. Karl Moore, David Mulcahy, Anto Murphy, Andy Mulligan, Derek Pender, Darragh Reynor, Stephen Traynor. Keith Buckley, Daniel Byrne, Dinny Corcoran, Dean Delany, Kevin Devaney, Roberto Lopes and Ryan McEvoy have all agreed to remain in Dalymount Park. Keeper Lee Murphy signed in November.
